OBS: This blog post is in Danish, just in case you didn’t see it :)

The 16. Dec. 2009 I did a talk about game development in Silverlight 3 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Thanks to all the people showing up, hope you had some good hours too :)

One thing that I found especially cool were that one of the attendees was a 10-12 year old boy (he brought his dad of course :) ). He already did a game in Game Maker he told me, very cool!
To the dad of this boy: I told you about some “kids programming language” that I couldn’t remember the name of. I goggled it this morning and found it: http://phrogram.com/kpl.aspx it might be a good start into the world of programming.
The other thing I told you about were GarageGames, take a look at this it comes with a WYSIWYG-like IDE, but it also have it’s own scripting language (similar to javascript) that you can code in. For more info take a look at it here: http://www.torquepowered.com/products/torque-2d

Slides and demos
I have put up the 4 demos, 1 Physics Helper demo for Blend and the powerpoint file, all in a zip file which can be downloaded from here: http://laumania.net/downloads/GameDevelopmentInSilverlight.zip

For the ones who are interested here is the list of, more or less game related, blogs/persons I read/follow.

Again I would like to thank people who came and hope you found my talk interesting and learned something.

- Enjoy and marry xmas :)

Finally I got “Balloon Mayhem” finished. I still have ideas for improvements, but I have decided (for now at least) that I will release the game as it is now, else I will just keep changing the game all the time. Instead I will leave Balloon Mayhem for now and start up my “Little Longhorn” project again.

For the people interested in “Little Longhorn” I can tell that that project have been put on hold while I finished “Balloon Mayhem”. As I done with that now, I can get back to “Little Longhorn” now, which I’m really looking forward too.

I want to thank all the people helping out with this game, one way or the other, and please see the “Credits” part in game for more info on this.

Here are some screenshots. To play the game, click on it in the menu to the left.

The doors to the new big "online casual games"-site (http://silverarcade.com/) has opened!

The site currently holds 9 games, but it's a start and I guess it will grow fast. I know I will do what I can to put games on the site. This site is interessed both for Silverlight game developers and casual online game players.

For Silverlight game developers the site gives you a great possiblity to show off your game and have people playing an enjoying your game. I don't know if it is on the roadmap, but maybe there could be a possiblity for the community to give you feedback on your game to improve it. Besides that you will also be paid based on the plays of your game. (This isn't there now, but they promise it will come and it will be based on income from ads). Further more, a site like this will make the penetration of Silverlight rise (we currently have a penetration of ~24% (http://www.riastats.com).

For online casual game players this is a great site to spend some time on, as Silverlight gives a new group of people the possiblity to create games for the web, which gives some new games to the players. So users/players of casual games could have many fun hours on the site as the number and quality of the games grows.

I have one game on the site for now, Bubbles, which can be played here: http://silverarcade.com/Games/Laumania/Bubbles

- Enjoy!

I have been quiet for a while now. This is due to a very busy schedule at work and privately. In the next couple of weeks I should be able to finish some of the things I'm working on at the moment and get back to developing Silverlight games! I mean, http://silverarcade.com is just around the corner, so I better hurry up.

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to hear all the new Silverlight stuff from MIX09 and will try to follow the Scott Gu keynote live, if possible (the time fits really bad for me), else I need to see the recording, which I hope will be up very fast after it took place. If you didn't knew it, you should be able to follow the keynotes live from here: http://live.visitmix.com

- Enjoy!
